Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC 12 x 50 Binocular Review and first impression!
I was given the Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC Binocular to provide a serious inspection. The Fusion 1600 ARC is a binocular and rangefinder in one frame. The ARC is Angle Range Compensation that instantly accounts for the angle when calculating distance so you know precisely where to shoot. It also has VDTTM (Vivid Display Technology) this is supposed to enhance display readout in all lighting conditions. It has both rifle and bow mode.
We take our optics very seriously it is one of the central pieces of gear in my pack and yours. Like many of you after my bow or rifle I demand superior optics from binoculars, rangefinders and scopes. The Fusion 1600 was imparted to me after one of our other staff members had given it a cursory test and wanted to know and what my first impressions. We did not test in a hunting situation we wanted to find out if all the electronic claims where in fact authentic and did the binocular function as advertised.
Optically, the Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC 12x50 performed well with some snags. The clarity and simplicity of focus was an acceptable feature of the Fusion 1600. Conversely when you look through the glass there is a blue green hue to the image that in fact reduces the quality. The 50 mm objective lens draws in a respectable amount of light under low light conditions but is somewhat offset by the blue green tones. Both of us noticed a change in color of the object viewed, this by itself isn’t bad but colors do change.
The rangefinder is accurate and we did like the Automatic scan feature. On the other hand the rangefinder does not function consistently under all conditions. The display VDTTM (Vivid Display Technology) is difficult to establish even when the brightness is set at its top. This is disappointing it fades and disappears quickly virtually every time.
We are disappointed in the electronics of the Bushnell Fusion 1600 ARC 12 x 50. Again we want to state our initial test was on the electronics, they work but the display needs to stay longer. We will continue to test and keep you updated.
