Review by Jim Abel on Primus PrimeLite™
The Primus PrimeLiteTM is not terribly different from other headlamps I’ve used on the job. There are, however, notable improvements that immediately jumped out. The PrimeLiteTM has a single, comfortable headband. There is no strap over the top of your head. When I used it, whether it outdoors in the middle of the night or up in the attack trying to run a new cable, it stayed in place without having to fight it. That is a first for me. I even used it while wearing a ball cap. No problem. The lights themselves seemed to be more powerful than others I’ve tried and are easily adjustable in intensity and angle of view. The “Lite” designation is also a plus. It is lighter, though it requires three AAA batteries as others do. When in place, the PrimeLiteTM seems to “belong” and is a valuable tool rather than a foreign appendage.
PrimeLite™ CA
Primus's most versatile headlamp. Compact Adventure (CA) is equipped with red lighting not impair night vision as well as a function warning when batteries are low. It has two red and four white light-emitting diodes as well as a powerful Luxeon™ diode. The brightness is adjustable on six levels: two red diodes with 100% brightness, 4 white diodes with 25%, and 100% brightness, a Luxeon™ diode with 50% and 100% brightness, and 4 LED blinkers. This model comes with three AAA batteries (that fit in the light bulb holder) and a storage bag used as a light dampener.
