Highlights

The Byer Military cot did break down on us and we repaired twice. The frame is 1 1/4" square aircraft aluminum tubing and one of the side pieces folded together and the cot failed on us during a camping trip. None of us could figure out how it came about. It is a good cot but we did not except it to brake. This is disappointing but we continue to use after repair.

We test a bunch of sleeping pads, bags and sometimes we still struggle to fall asleep, the first night out is always the toughest. If this happens to you, we may have a cure. We decided that after years of sleeping on the ground with thin pads it was time to test bigger tents, with room for a couple of cots. This summer and fall, we tested a Maine Military Cot from Byer. This is a 30-inch wide 18-inch high and 84-inch long rip-stop polyester fabric, heavy gauge aluminum tubing 1 1/4 inch thick, and rugged enough for a 375-pound user. The center of the cot reinforced with an extra panel of fabric and a pouch that hangs from the side for all your valuables. The advantages of a Byer cot start with comfort and convenience; you can sit up, remove your boots, clothing, stretch out, and sleep as if you are home in your own bed. We have learned a few things from sleeping on cots, use a pad between you and your bag; this insulates you from cold air that gathers between the floor of the tent and bottom of cot. We appreciated the Maine Military Cot from Byer it is top quality, extremely sturdy and comfortable. It comes complete with a carry bag with handles.

The Maine Military Cot

The biggest and most rugged cot we have produced, the Maine Military Cot has a weight capacity of 375 pounds! Crafted with full 1 1/4" square heavy gauge aluminum tubing and strong rip-stop polyester fabric, this heavy duty cot lives up to its name. The center of the cot is reinforced with an extra panel of fabric and features a generous pouch with multiple pockets. Each of the three long legs are reinforced with an additional inner tube for longevity and stability. The cot easily slips into a matching carry bag with handles.
